Thudarum's Journey to OTT

The film Thudarum, featuring Mohanlal and Shobhana in prominent roles, is preparing for its debut on an OTT platform following a successful theatrical run. The movie has garnered acclaim for both its storyline and performances, delighting fans who were thrilled to see the duo back on screen together.

Release Details

Thudarum is set to premiere on JioHotstar on May 30, available in multiple languages including Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada.

Plot Overview

The narrative centers around a taxi driver who has a deep affection for his black ambassador car, but his life takes a turn when the vehicle goes missing.

Director's Insights

Director Tharun Moorthy shared his thoughts on collaborating with Mohanlal and Shobhana, stating, 'From the outset, this was envisioned as a Mohanlal film. The creators had him in mind for the role of Shanmugham. However, the script required someone fluent in both Tamil and Malayalam, which is where Shobhana was a perfect fit. Her casting was not merely for nostalgia; she was crucial to the character's essence. Their pairing added an emotional depth that would have been hard to achieve with anyone else.'

On Set Experience

He further remarked on the professionalism of both actors, noting, 'Despite their legendary status, they approached the set as actors, which simplified my role. I crafted a world for the film, and they seamlessly entered it without the trappings of their fame. There was no preferential treatment; we all gathered under a tree, discussing art, social media, or life in general. They fostered an environment conducive to creativity.'

Chemistry and Cast

Moorthy also commended the chemistry between the two leads, explaining, 'Given their history together, I didn’t need to spend excessive screen time establishing their connection. The audience already trusts them, and their shared history enhances the story from the very first frame.' The film also features a talented supporting cast, including Farhaan Faasil, Maniyanpilla Raju, Binu Pappu, Irshad Ali, Aarsha Chandini Baiju, Thomas Mathew, Krishna Praba, Prakash Varma, and Aravind.
